Thanks Capturedbyrobots, It looks like most of my algae is now gone thanks to the oto's. Whodda thought I'd ever see "un fuzzy" plants! My
sword plants looks better than the day I bought them. The oto's don't seem to stop not even when the lights go on. They're just having a party in
that tank. (well they take the occasional break until one of them disturbs the others and they start up again). I am simply amazed at the transformation. I
wish I could have documented before and after pictures but the camera just wasn't picking up the algae.
Would lowering the water level 6 inches and using a bubbler instead of an HOB be okay. I have one of those hoods that have only clear plastic exactly where the lighting fixture is. The clear plastic is built into the hood and the light fixture is completely seperate..it fits into a slot into the hood. So I fear raising the light 6 inches will barely let any light into the tank through that narrow opening of clear plastic in the hood.
