Hi Im new to this site. I have a female betta vailtail, Jasmine, who is sick with a lot of symptoms but I dont know what illness they are pointing to so I
haven yet medicated her. Just upped the temp of her tank (see info below) and added more salt and daily 100% water changes.
The symptoms starting May 16th till today...(5-25-09):
1) SBD ~ Floating at the serface. Resolved
2) Finrot(minor) ~ dark & uneven edge on caudal fin. Not any worse.
3) Clamped fins ~ Continues with some improvement at times
4) Paler looking ~ Possably resolved
5) Lathargic ~ Sometimes not responding (in earlier days). Comtinues with improvment.
6) Rubbing against things/Darting in tank ~ didnt see any for several days but possible rubbing seen yesterday. In any case is not often.
7) Left gill cover extending ~ Continues, worse with a reddish look behind and a round shape apx 1mm and same color seen. She seams to be breathing fine.
Decreased appitite ~ Not eating all food (only once) or taking longer to eat. Continues.
Non symptom concern ~ Water getting very slightly clouder looking sooner between water changes in the weeks before illness. Not seen with daily water changes.
Except for the SBD all the above symptoms are new to Jasmine. FYI...They are also very similar to what my male betta had before he died 2 months ago. Ive been very carfull to not cross contaminate though. And he also had the symptom of badly rolled up fin that was bleeding, so maybe a totaly different illness, I hope.
I read something on a general fish site about a "Thyroid Tumor" behind gill covers. Wondering if that could be the tiny round thing or is that just an inflamed gill. Dont think I can get a photo of it because I saw it with a maganyfer only. I didnt notice the gill prob for a day or more into this.

Ive been posting this info on betta/fish sites for about a week now and no one knows that it could be. Im on the verge of treating her with Maracyn 2 and coppersafe since they cover most of the bases. But im wating till later today to see if anyone has any better ideas. Any advice is very appreciated!
Tank and background info
Ive had her almost a year and she was a baby (less then 1 1/2") when I got her. She has SBD when I got her but recovered in a week or so. She has had a few bouts of it since but it went away in a few days or week with out treetment. She had 2 bouts with a fungus on the tip of her fin. Both went away with in 2 weeks and they were last year.
She is in a 2 gal unfiltered tank (put her in a new tank apx 2-3 weeks ago...same style just newer, she is back in her old one now) with a 25w heater set at 80*. I do 100% water changes apx every 4 days (everyday since she has been sick). I use tap water aged 24 hours and treated with Amquel and NovAqua and 1 teas Aqua. Salt (2 teas since illness). The ph is apx 7.8 (sometimes 7.6) There is no sand or gravel just a bare floor. One "sandstone" rock as a hiddy hole and one fake plant with 3 pebble weights (new apx 4 weeks ago). She has been in this set up since I got her about 10-11 months ago.
