Vanessa, I understand that you're trying to assign some blame here... but I do take exception to a lot of what you said. I feel I/we have to defend the work we do here b/c we HAVE helped so many members. First of all... you did get very timely advice. Many technical support sites work in a 9-5 window... you got help from Tetralina3 in the wee-hours of the morning... only a few hours after your initial late-night post. Your frog passed away within 24hrs of your first posting. At that point, there was likely nothing that would have prevented it at that point in time. We do the best we can here... it's completely voluntary... we have lives outside of this board as was explained previously... but we as moderators and administrators here do make this board a priority, but our families, careers often has to come first. We do not get any remuneration for what we do... unlike some other boards that pay employees to provide help-desk service. As explained before, Dr. Barb is away dealing with some personal issues. She and Ash are our "official" medical experts. Ash is a medical student who frequently checks in more than twice per day... not an easy thing to do when you spend long days and nights in school and hospitals. Other ER moderators and admins here have experience behind them so asking the questions we ask is not in vain. If you feel that you were let-down... I'm very sorry... but we did the best we could with your situation. We are well aware that there are other fish/frog sites available on the web. Did you check any other sites since this was a urgent situation since you were not happy with what you got here? Are you equally let down by them? There is no "magical" potion or drug to plop into a tank to stop an illness that has been progressing over time, with the end near. Some illnesses come on suddenly and there is little to no time to react. But the info we provide can also help future aquatic pets you (will) have so they hopefully don't follow the same fate. Many of our members start asking for help right at the first sign of problems... that, most of the time, gives us some time to assess and thoughtfully recommend corresponding treatment. As you know, these creatures cannot speak for themselves... their only form of communication with us is via their behaviour and physical appearance. As soon as we know something is "not right"... then we usually have the time to "fix" it... whether it's as simple an issue as correcting the water params (a HUGE amount of all illnesses are caused by less-than-ideal water quality) or dealing with a serious issue such as chytrid in frogs or a severe bacterial/parasitic infection in fish. Water quality is more often than not... the root of all evils in the aquarium world. Not only does correcting the water quality issues often helps the sick patient, but if it doesn't, then we can help the other inhabitants of the tank survive. I/we have no interest in starting a flame war... but defending the integrity and heart of this board is necessary, imo. There will always be one or two that feel we haven't satisfied their needs... but by far... we have been able to help the vast majority, as evidence by the numbers of our members that come back often/daily, and often offer their own help too. If you feel that we are not the right forum for you... you are free to go where ever you feel satisfied. Good luck with your fish and frogs... Michele * edited for clarification and typos
