hi we brought a small generic goldfish home for our 3 yr old (first pet "silver") about 68 hrs ago. got a 2.5 gal tank. put nothing in bottom. we did the bag submersion acclimation thing and silver has made it to day 3 but we dont think she/he has eaten any of the flake food we've put in. the water was pretty cloudy and stinky by this AM so I changed it out COMPLETELY a few hrs ago (before i started doing web research and learned its best to only change about 25-35% at a time). i've used carbon filtered tap water (so i think it's pretty much chlorine free but i don't know what else this amway filter has taken out that silver may need?) so is silver going to croak pretty soon? should I do something or just see what happens? she still darts around the tank when startled but mostly stays in one place on the bottom just kinda flapping her pectorals to stay in place. i also learned that the black tip on her dorsal fin (had when we got her) is probably amonia disease and it looks like there may be a little bit on the tips of her pectorals too. help us save silver pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeeeeee!!!
