Hi and welcome to FnF! Your tank looks fanastic! Love the sand, plants and driftwood.
Would you mind starting a new thread about your tank? Many of us love to plan new tankmates and will be more than happy to give recommendations. -Shelly |

I suppose I could post some pictures. I don't think I've done that on this topic yet.
These are my tanks: This is my 6 gallon tank that holds one betta and one ADF for right now:
Sorry for the dirty glass. Here's a close up:
My 10 gallon that holds 6 X-ray tetras:
Sorry for the flash, it's too dark without a flash. And lastly my 2.5 gallon that holds 1 betta:

Hey hey, my tank has changed a bit. Now it's properly planted again and the inhabitants are 5 sterbai cories and 6 cherry barbs. It's a 30g tank so
I'm not technically fully stocked yet but I'm quite happy with how things are atm.
Here's a Cherry Barb eating
More barbs
One of the cories
There is a cory in this one here, semi hidden though
It's a low tech tank now, no added co2 and pretty low light, just around 2wpg but things are working out. It used to be a female betta community tank but they've all passed away now and I've got the cherry barbs instead. |

Here's a picture of Sunny's 5.5 gallon tank. It's still a work in progress. The plants are Anubias barteri (one large in front of the Duetto filter
and one small in the right front corner) and good old Wisteria. I tied the ends of the Wisteria to shards from a terracotta pot. It's grown a lot in the
two months it's been in the tank. As you can barely see, most of the Micro Sword (Lilaeopsis Novae) died. I was going to replace it but a lot of schmutz
seems to cling to the gravel around it and it's impossible to vacuum the gravel there, so I'm considering getting something like java moss instead that
doesn't need to be planted. I stole the idea of the crackle glass candle holder from someone else's pic in FnF but now I can't find it to give
credit! Sunny mostly ignores it and the small pots. He likes to hang out in the Wisteria.
The tank could use a little color. I was going to add some old marbles I have but they might make gravel vacuuming harder. I was also afraid Sunny could get caught rooting around them. What do you think? |

Larger pebbles and things do make vacs a bit more difficult because they don't lift well in the tube. Also, bigger items often collect debris underneath
faster IMO.
Nice tank. |

Hello to everyone!
Been a lurker for at least a month now, finally decided to become a member. I love this forum, and all of your tanks! WOW! Here is my first humble 5 gallon set up. Haven't got my betta yet, but I have my two babies in there, two ADFs. Tank: (With CB in the back right corner)
Close up of CB:
My other ADF Chubbs wasn't up for pictures. Was hiding in the roman castle. Quick question for Jennie (or anyone else who can help), I love the crackle glass votive holder! I actually saw something similar that I really liked as well, and I'm wondering if it would be safe to put in. Here is a link to the votive: http://www.tinyurl.com/5y6sch . I think it would be perfect in my tank. I loooove the blue. I just want it to be safe for my froggies and hopefully soon, my betta! *edited to resize pics and add the link

Welcome to the site! Your ADF is adorable. As for the votive holder, as long as it's sturdy enough not to break, the lip has no rough edges, and it's
new so you know for sure it's never been exposed to soap, it should be fine. Speaking of rough edges, make sure you castle doesn't have any either
because betta fins can catch on them and tear.

Oh, and I bought my votive holder at a candle store in the mall. They had it in a variety of colors and it only cost about $10.

Hey MissGreen08! Welcome to FnF! Thanks so much for sharing a pic of your tank!! It's beautiful... and your frogger is adorable!
I just wanted to comment that a 5g is actually just good for 2 ADF's... they require about 2.5 gallons each, as well... sometimes, bettas and ADF's don't work out... b/c bettas LOVE food and are quite glutenous... and ADF's eat/go after their food much more slowly... so the ADF's may not get enough, and the bettas get too much. As well, one of our members reported an ADF loved to hang on to their betta's finnage (which can obviously damage their fins). You can certainly try the matchup - but I'd recommend a larger tank... like a 10 gallon so they have lots of room for themselves. Please poke around our site! You may find our cycling article here in Freshwater quite useful, as well as our ADF FAQ's and Caresheet, along with our Betta FAQ's and Caresheet in our Betta Forum. Looking forward to chatting with you! Michele |
