Amazing pictures T!!!! The pleco are so amazing as are the oscars and jewels. What a great tank. I am sure it is like a big screen TV with all that activity.

Just a few of my Betta tanks.
The very first tank I bought. My dog loves it as much as I do LOL  And now it has settled into a wonderful sorority, with a few platies and a banjo catfish.  Decor has changes in these to give them more swimming room    Edited to resize pic |

What a treat seeing all these beautiful tanks. The betta sorority, and the awesome white/yellow Oscar (is that Sherbert?) Wow.
Here's my new cory playing King of the Hill. I think the neon is saying "Who the heck are you??' This is my 20 gal. I only have one big tank.   And here's Kiri with his new buddy that my niece insisted on getting him. He's not overly impressed.

 Kiri is just sooo beautiful... he even gets away with being an ornament snob!  I've got the same froggie in Jelly Bean's tank and Ruby's (the one in Ruby's has a slightly different pose.) Big Al's, right?!  Michele |

Those are called "2 way betta tanks" and I get them from the Aquatic Warehouse here in San Diego. Great place to shop for fishy needs. I filled one with no ornaments and got to just under 2 G's. But with gravel and decor I fill it with 1.5 easily. Plus if I need to I can add in the separator that comes with them.
I originally bought one to set up as a hospital tank, but Bo seemed to luv his so I kept him in there. As the "school" of bettas at home here grew - so did the number of tanks. That table is now FULL.  A shot of the sorority as it is today.  |

Sadly yessssssssss.......the sorority is serene for a few weeks, then out of the blue there will be some nipped fins going on. The worst time is after a day of fasting them. Sometimes I feel I just shouldnt even bother to do it as they get very very feisty and angry!
I had to remove my little girls Umiko and IchiBooToo from the tank after one such episode as they were hiding more then usual and I could see they were getting picked on. When they grow larger I am hoping to re introduse them again. [hopefully along with "Lolli"] But for now they have their own sorority going on. [with some platy fry] I just try to make sure there are lots of hidey holes for them to escape to. |

You're doing all the right things, Gina! Providing lots of hidey-holes and having back-up plans incase of incompatabilities.
 I know many fast their bettas and other fish as it's generally good for them... but if you see a pattern of aggression following a day of fasting... maybe instead of an entire 24hr fast... just feed less that particular day?? Or perhaps, try the frozen/thawed/deshelled (not canned) pea. I usually offer that in place of fasting b/c I have a really hard time NOT feeding them. It's up to you... but I might try that route if that was going on in my tank despite my best efforts to keep the peace by providing lots of cover and space. Michele

My vote would be for skipping the fasting in the sorority tank if you are seeing aggression too.

After a hard days work I do LUV to come home and sit on the comfy couch next to it and watch them for a bit. Plus it gives me a chance to check on them all.
I was fasting them typically every other week. But for the last month I was doing it every week. Perhaps I will just do the once a week feeding with a small bit of pea rather then the full fast!
