It's been a while since my last post and a lot has changed since then.
I now live with my brother in the Denver Metro Area. Back in summer of 2012, I decided to change my major to nursing, which required me to transfer into the Adult and Graduate Studies at Colorado Christian University. The move made me ineligible for on-campus housing. After a couple semesters of doing mostly online classes for my pre-reqs for nursing, I realized that I would be better off going to a state university to complete my BSN, so I transferred to the University of Colorado Denver Downtown campus. After a few years here, I have finally finished all my pre-reqs for nursing school (I have been in college a total of four years so far with three more years to go). I have applied to several nursing schools throughout the state and hope to start my clinical rotations in Summer of 2014 at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora (this is my school of choice because I know the campus very well as I have attended free seminars here). I have already sent my application and hope to be accepted to this school.
My passion and love for frogs has expanded. I had to get rid of the 55 gallon fish tank I had my ACFs in because it was destroying the floor it was on. I lost all my ACFs to various reasons. However, I still have three ADFs in the only fish tank I have (a 29 gallon). My froggy family has expanded from three ADFs to three White's Dumpy Tree Frogs (which is my favorite terrestrial frog so far) and one Pacman Frog. My tree frogs' names are Jabba, Bugsy and Splat (my brother came up with that name because I call them my froggers and he reminds me what happens to Frogger in these games). My Pacman frog is named Pacman (or Ms. Pacman if it turns out to be female).
I have also been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, which is a mild form of autism. I always knew that I was different than most of the people around me, I just couldn't explain how. This diagnosis has allowed me to have certain accommodations for my college work. I have found these accommodations to be very helpful. I have extended time on tests and take my tests in a private room outside the classroom. It is extremely distracting for me to take tests while people are coming up to turn in their tests, so these accommodations have helped immensely.
I still don't have contact with my mother. I have constant contact with my brother as I am now his roommate. Me and my froggies.
In closing, I have only one thing to ask of you guys. My endometriosis has come back and they found a cyst of my left ovary, so I will require surgery to treat both. I have already gone in for a pre-op appointment and the surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. I am nervous for it, even though I know that I have an excellent and knowledgeable doctor doing the surgery. Could you please pray for the surgery and for my quick recovery? It is a very minimally invasive procedure, but anything can happen.
Thanks for reading and I am eager to hear from you!
Alison
