I am also sorry for your loss.

I have been learning about fish diseases from Dr. Barb for 8 years and Ash for 4. So, despite Dr. Barb needing to attend to some urgent external issues right now, I feel confident that she has trained me (and other moderators) quite well indeed about how to examine, and treat, most common fish diseases. (As you can see, I have over 12,000 posts here and another 6,000 at two other fish sites the majority of which are either helping sort out water quality and tank cycling issues that contribute to causing illness or fish disease threads.)

I always err on the side of caution. While I know a lot about fish-related illnesses and also water quality corrections (which can also help with frog posts) I like to defer to the frog experts to make sure the advice I give on frogs is going to be the very best. So, I always do my part to make sure all the regular tank issues are checked and verified in case they are causing or contributing to any particular malady. That also frees the frog experts and medical experts like Ash, other moderators, and Dr. Barb (although absent right now) to help with the frog-specific concerns where they are more expert.

BTW (insert bragging here) did you know that our frog moderators have been published in major magazines such at TFH because of their groundbreaking research on frog diseases? However, the unfortunate thing is that not all problems are easy to diagnose by reading typed descriptions or looking at photos (in many cases they are very small or not adequate quality). So, it takes a while to get to the root of the disease symptom constellation and tank parameter conditions.

As the others mentioned, the time was very short between your first post and the unfortunately loss of your wee frog. While the frog experts try to be here regularly, sometimes life concerns make them only check in once per day or even miss a day. We all do try very hard to help people all throughout the day and night. That is why I always post late at night to be sure to catch the ER problems at night in the time most people are sleeping just in case there is a case I can help with that I am able to help with asap. Yes, it means I am sometimes quite bleary-eyed at work. I volunteer here because I care about helping people protect their water creatures in any way I can.

I hope you continue to participate in the site as you are welcome here and we will do the best we can with anything that is in our power to help with. We are all devoted to helping peoples' creatures live the longest, most healthy life possible in any way that we can. I think you will be able to understand now that we really did want to help your frog but sometimes it is too late to diagnose and treat a situation even if everyone was here all the time. As mentioned, if a fish or frog passes away that quickly when there does not seem to be any tank water quality issues/toxins then saving it was likely not possible, unfortunately.
