Just that if Primafix isn't good, what is? Aside from that, I misquoted myself when I said 30 C. It's usually, bar fluctuation, just under the 80 F marker on the thermometer. I just looked, and 30 C is actually much higher than I keep it. I was very stressed, and what I needed was specific help about my situation, not general advice on tank maintenance. Maybe I'm overstocked, maybe I'm not, but my frog is dying! Now he is dead.
I don't consider myself a complete amateur at this. I do rinse my filter in aquarium water as you suggest, and usually clean my tank in a 2 gallon jug once or twice a week. I don't over feed. Other online aquarists have told me that kits are a waste of time, and that doing regular water changes will do that work for you. I'm going to get a kit anyway, but at the same time, I know that different things work for different people and different fish.
What does bother me is that the "emergency" room on this forum, which I've spent a lot of time posting to in hopes of getting help, has actually offered no help and only told me that everything I'm doing is wrong with no advice on what to do instead. Only the two of you have posted, and no "Dr. Barb" has ever surfaced. So much for an emergency! It's been two days now! I figured that the online community would be better help, as the store clerks I've talked to have been less informed about ADFs than a basic online FAQ. BTW, I read Dr. Barb's faq probably a year ago now, so I'm well aware of it. But it doesn't even clarify how much to feed them. I've seen different views, like one cube a day, half a cube twice a day, and even 3 or 4 individual worms hand fed once a day. I'm willing to do what it takes, but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer here.
I'm glad you feel like this is the place to get the "real information" but I haven't really gotten any tangible help for this problem, and now it is too late. I guess I'll just go back to my guesswork. It's too bad. I was feeling really excited about finding a place that could finally help me with ADFs. I'll keep the link for checking time to time, but I don't think I'll be posting much.
Vanessa
