Hi, Michele:
Filter is a bio-wheel with an additional blue floss filter - no special ammonia remover, etc. I don't change it until it is falling apart - simply swish in used tank water if it has any debris built up on it. I use Prime as a dechlorinator/conditioner.
I feed my fish every other day - they get a variety of Ed's Almost Natural foods & once a week a smooshed pea. I don't know if the sick fish has been pooing - haven't noticed. He didn't eat the last time I fed. He is bloated a bit in the belly & eyes look a little "popped". I just did a water change & got a better look at him; he is a little pale, but the scales don't look as bad as I thought when I was trying to see him in the back corner.
I'm setting up the QT right now & have some Maracyn & Maracyn II that I'll start dosing him with. I live in a very small town & the one place I can get fish meds don't carry the others you mentioned.
Please let me know if you have other suggestions - I'm really bummed about the sick fish. Thank you.
