I found a picture of the Afzelii from the link for Aquarium Plants that is at the top of the page here. They say it doesn't require much light and is a very forgiving plant. I'm thinking that for me that may be a good thing seeing as how I have no green thumb what-so-ever. I do enjoy beautful plants, but can't seem to be able to keep them alive, so a forgiving plant....good thing for me
The link for it is
here
I wanted to place it either in an aquarium with a male betta or if it's too big for that one, then I could put it in my larger community tank that will have tetras of various varieties and maybe I'll get a pair of fancy guppies for in there as well. I just wondered if maybe the fish would eat it and if they did that would it be safe for them to do that?
I can't find on this particular bulb the number for it's intensity. It's just a standard bulb that came with the Eclipse 5 g tank. I was wondering if it would be sufficient or if I would have to buy something else that would be more suitable for plant growth. These plants all seem to be doing fine now, although they have only been in the tank for 2 days. I have been leaving the light on during the day and then turning it off at night to make sure it is on for 12 hours. What types of things can I do to the water to add CO2? Is that something that I can add in liquid form or is it something that would require extra tubing of some type into the tank to add more oxygen to it? Oh and when would I have to start worrying about nutrients? Is that something that can be measured in days or something that I would do if I noticed the plants starting to wither?
Sorry to bombard you all with so many questions. I've just never had a planted tank before so I am rather clueless in this department.
