No, Dr. Barb, you're right...1.33 is very low wattage, and algea does do better in low light than plants (kind of like weeds in a garden can thrive when conditions for 'real' plants are less than ideal, or out of balance). I have grown java fern and moss with low light...the light that my 10g came with was 2 incandescent bulbs...barely bright enough to see the fish. Those two plants did okay. Maybe it was a fluke; but if they can do well in a betta jar with only indirect sunlight, then it's possible they could do okay with very low tank light. Worst can happen is they wither away. And I don't
think
that the algea will get out of control with only a couple plants, and no added fertilizers. I would suggest that Sugar remove them if they start to wither.
