I woke up this morning to find him dead in his quarantine tank Cryingface-1
I was kind of expecting it but still had hope....He was in excellent shape before, trying to mate every night, smaller tummy, very active, etc.

I'm thinking he must of caught his foot in the filter suction. I am most certain it wasn't the female Betta - they have been together over a year and she is very calm.  The nitrate was also alot lower than 20 almost 0 but my my tester only starts at 20 so i couldn't define an exact number. The filter I changed is supposed to be a complete change and has another part that doesn't to maintain beneficial bacteria. The nutrafin cycle I use is just a small weekly dose of beneficial bacteria to maintain levels - I guess i don't need to use this. I forgot to mention in a addition to the weekly water changes I use a turkey baster everyday to suck out uneaten food and stool.
He will live on through his babies - his first batch just metamorphosizedFrog, (in a different tank)
Also the female in the tank is fine today and everything is back to normal. i did do a small, (25%) water change last night so maybe that helped.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses!!!Hug22
I have attached some pics of him in his "prime",(he was always on a female lol) and his baby tads
