Hey Kaysea,

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the fact that she is not flashing as often means we're taking care of the velvet parasite.

Dr. Barb or Ash... Jasmine (this girl betta) isn't fully "unclamped". Thursday's dose will be the 7th one. Should she stop or continue the QC?

Torn fins could have been caused by the frequent flashing she was exhibiting before. B/c she's being treated with antibiotics, and her water is being kept very pristine... they should heal up. We're more concerned about the bloody splotches and the likely velvet infection.

A 2 gallon tank can be changed 100% every 5 days for example. While she's ill and you're medicating, do daily 25% w/c's inbetween the days where the 100% waterchanges occur. It's not necessary to larger waterchanges... especially if temperature, pH differences are great. Do you have thermometers in the tanks? And do you also check the temp of the new water going into the tanks to ensure the temps are within 2 degrees of her current tank temp.

If she's having trouble eating the pellets but doesn't appear to have trouble with the frozen/thawed bloodworms, then you can feed her strictly bloodworms... at least until she gets better. It's good that she's pooping.

When we say never-seen-soap... it's literally that. Any equipment and containers that have been washed in soap will leave some residue behind no matter how good we rinse it. Soap will kill fish (gums up their gills for one). Soap and aquariums are never a recommended combination. If you've used soap in any of the tanks to clean them... then you are best to "nuke" it by using a pure bleach/water combination. If the tank is acrylic, you would use a 1:19 bleach/water solution... if the tank is glass... then you would use 1:9. Let it sit for a few minutes in this solution and then rinse like crazy. When you think you're done, rinse more. Then fill the tanks back up with water and add 20x the normal dose of dechlorinator (without fish in the tank) and let it sit for several hours. Then rinse copiously again and let it air dry. The tank should be ready to fill up normally for your bettas using the proper amount of dechlorinator.

Have any of your bettas' tanks been washed in soap? When doing 100% waterchanges... I just rinse the tank and gravel in very hot water and as hot as I can take it for the decorations and ornaments.
