Hey Kaysea,

I'm glad she's still with us. The white spots could be little ulcerous lesions. I think the M/M2 may clear that up, if it's anything to worry about... it doesn't look like ich to me.

If she were my betta with similar symptoms... I would treat with M/M2 and RidIch+ OR Quick Cure (1/2 the dose). QC is the same as RI+, just double the strength. Seeing as she's still glancing off things in the tank... I really would start the antiparasitic meds (QC or RI+) immediately. M/M2 and either antiparasitic can be safely used together as we mentioned before (I've done it myself - with RI+ and Maracide).

I would really steer clear from the Coppersafe... most fish are extremely sensitive to it, along with the reasons outlined previously. I am not sure about treating with PraziPro concurrently with the other meds... I personally still think velvet is more likely given this fish has not been exposed to anything that could introduce flukes. You can certainly keep it on hand, if you do not see any improvement with the RI+ or QC.

She is in a 100% waterchange tank, correct? You may want to reduce the temperature back down (slowly to avoid stress) to about 79-80F as RI+ (and probably QC) depletes the oxygen in the water (requires daily partial waterchanges prior to each dose to replenish oxygen). Higher temps also reduce oxygen levels... even though bettas have labyrinth organs, oxygen in the water will only encourage healing.

Because bettas generally don't tolerate salt very well (especially with those bettas that have experienced constipation or swimbladder issues)... I wouldn't add salt at this point. As Dr. Barb says... they are freshwater fish... and do not require salt in their water.

Keep us posted, Kaysea! I hope she gets better... but do start the meds asap!

Michele
