Good news bad news. I decided to go ahead and try and feed Jasmine this morning. I really didnt think she would eat or even see me there or swim over. I took off her tank cover and had the spoon hovering over like everyday with her pellet on it. To my surprise she swam over reared up like she was going to jump for her pellet like she usualy does! I put it in the water and she gobbled it up! I gave her the other one and she ate it too! She swam across her tank but her big fins are still VERY clamped and her tiny pectoral fin on the side with the bad gill doesnt seam to be moving as much (I will check later to see if thats the case). Ok the bad news. I looked at her real close with the magnifier and I noticed 2 tenny tiny white spots on her head. I still cant tell if the other tiny things are her iridescence or the goldish spots of Velvet. I really think the Marcide was the right med to try. I think you guys were right in your diagonsis. So did she have a bad reaction to it or did it burn her inflamed gill area? <---this is my gut feeling. Or was the glancing due to the possable Velvet and maybe she hurt herself when she glanced off the rock and it had nothing to do with the med at all? So what should be my next step if she survives? Sorry about all the posts last night. I was hoping somoene would be on line and give me some advice about what to do so I ddint do the wrong thing. To recap...I took her out of the medicated water last night after the crazy glancing and extreme listlessness. I put her in a tank just like the one she was in with 50/50 tap spring water treated (Unfortunately the tap didnt have time to sit 24hrs.) with salt and added her rock, plant, heater and thermomater in the same location. OH question! If its VElvet etc arent you supposed to keep them in a darker place? Im VERY hopeful at her eating but the white spots... : ( I adore bettas but I get so attached to them! Jasmine has always been my favorite.
