Yes, BB... the goldies are going to get much bigger... it's not fair to them to keep them in a small tank.

The only minimum acceptable ammonia reading is 0. Long term exposure at 0.25 ammonia can still present problems. I can also see that you would eventually get exhausted and tired of doing daily waterchanges for years just to keep them in acceptable water conditions (that's not to mention the crowded quarters they will be living in too).

The myths that are perpetuated by the pictures on the front aquarium boxes featuring 3-4 goldies in a 5 or 10 gallon tank is not accurate, nor fair to the fish. You can maybe keep the tetras and glows in the 10g (and that's pushing the stocking levels)... but the goldies will need a much bigger aquarium if you're going to keep them.
