Daffycat, as one of the owners of this board, I am sorry you feel the way you do and for your loss. We do pride ourselves here on the care and attention given to those in need. This forum is the first place most Mods hit when they log as it is for those in urgent need and the name indicates this is the place for the quickest action rather than possibly getting lost in one of the other forums and then having to be moved here to find more assistance. The name will not change regardless of your comments. I doubt you're going to find any forums that provide help 24/7 and you were given help within a short time frame of you posting originally and throughout. Without a scientific review we may never know what happened to Ford however we base our advice and guidance on years of combined experience in both breeding and keeping the various fish and frogs for aquariums. As has been said previously, this came up suddenly and it's very likely anything you might have done for him would have been too late. Bloating like that indicates Dropsy which is a failure of his kidneys and when it comes up fast as it did, there's usually not much you can do to help. As for the fuzzy spot on his head, it was likely as you indicated, an infected wound causing Septicemia in his blood. I'm sorry again you aren't pleased with us but I am glad you have knowledgable fish store staff available to help you with your future needs. Please feel free to find another source for your information and help.
