Barry White … Indeed! It's like Comedy Central in here.
Looks like the nitrates had their party last night 'cause they're all gone this morning. Freeloaders! Today's numbers … 7:45 AM, 26.iii.09

Okay, the pH minerals need some refreshing (waterchange time!).
I hope that was just a short nitrite party and now the colony is in full swing, working hard, and a big enough group to handle any "output" task. t |

pegzee wrote: Well, I do! But T. is the wind beneath my wings. Hahahah, Tetralina. You read my mind with that cartoon! I'm thinking about making it the backdrop for the aquarium. First the good news: I made it to the lfs this weekend and replaced my thermometer (its predecessor went through the garberator) I have a question: My tank is flourishing with algae right now. I can still see the contents but don't ask me to read the thermometer with any accuracy. I was thinking that it could wait until I introduce some snails but it occurred to me this morning to ask if algae can screw with cycling. Should I do a little cleaning? http://www.yvr.ca/guide/todo/explorebc.asp It can't hurt to remove some of the algae but maybe do it right before a waterchange to raise the pH (maybe we will be lucky and the pH will stay stable with the "Stable". Remember not to raise the pH too much with the product. Don't want big swings up and down even for the little buggies. Try adding just the standard single amount and see if it is enough to keep the pH towing the line. I think you are almost done . . . whoo hoo . . . can you tell us how fast it is turning 2.5ish ammonia to zero? (Oh my, sorry, did I just ask for ANOTHER TEST?) t |

UPDATE:
Added another 0.2 mL of ammonia (0.4 mL total today) ... the parameter is now up to 2.0 ppm. Now the real testing can begin! |

Carp. The nitrites have made another appearance on the stage. I thought they had completed their part in the play.
Don't worry, it is better to be a bit low on the ammonia than too high. Can you add a single dose of pH Stable and see what happens to the pH? t |

Can do!
Er, rather, will do ... first thing tomorrow morning! |

Yesterday, I added a total of 0.4 mL of ammonia to get the parameter up to 2.0 ppm. And I added Stable first thing this morning before any testing. Nitrates are still whooping it up though. Today's numbers … 8:00 AM, 04.iv.09

Good going, ammonia-munchers! Now, you nitrite-eaters need to catch up and eat all your mean in the same time period or you will lose the "hotdog"
eating contest.

Great numbers, Uyek! Out of curiousity, was that kH test on the tank water or tap water? |
