What are they eating now? They look good. I rfemember spending hours just watching them from above as they motot their way around the tank hunting for tiny
morsels to suck in. If you do feed bbs, you'll see their little bellies turn orange from the bbs.

I was able to find frozen bbs. I looked all over and couldn't find bbs eggs or a hatchery.
I can't tell if they're eating or not. When I put in the bbs it just kind of sinks to the bottom and the tadpoles mostly hang at the top. |

They're a little stronger now so if you can add an air stone that helps keep the bbs moving in the water allowing them to hunt, although they'll get
tossed around close to it a bit more. Only feed a little at a time if it's all sinking to the bottom then. I know it's a lot of work but at this stage
they are mostly top area feeders and uneaten bbs can foul your water fairly quickly.

I've had a 1-3 whisper filter in there. I covered the intake with a filter sponge so the tadpoles didn't get sucked up. It doesn't give much water
movement.
I can add an airstone too. |

It helps to keep the foods moving but try to find the balance between too much and too little by using a gang valve on it.

I just put the airstone in. That sent them flying...poor little things. I think I have it adjusted to a good flow and they seems to be moving around on their
own rather than being flung around.
I guess it would be better to have a bubble wand. The stone kind of sits in one place and only stirs up the bottom on one spot. |

Can you suspend it to about 1/3 of the way inside the tank rather than resting on the bottom. That will help keep things moving topside rather than stirring
up the bottom.

Yep, I'm pretty sure I can rig it that way.

I turkey basted them out the ones from top into one container, the ones from the bottom in another. Did a full water change and put the ones from the top back in the tank. There are still few more tadpoles still in the parent tank and there were eggs last night, only a few left this morning. I'm so discouraged. Poor things. |

I lost all the tadpoles I had pulled from the parent tank.

Live BBS right away, keep the tads at 77-80deg
feed 3-4 times a day medium portions. I did this, and my tads metamorphasized in 5 weeks totally, no mas tails. Change the water whenever it gets icky on the bottom, Every 3 days at the least. Put snails in to eat the dead BBS. |

Well, I'm trying again. Since the last time I posted Mom laid the eggs at night and there were none in the morning.
A few days ago I had the opportunity to suck some out before the parents got to them and transferred them into a 5g mini bow. I put lettuce and tank water in a jar on a window sill and had green water by the time they were out of their egg sac. They're still very young (3-4 days?) and tiny, smaller than the ones in last pic I posted. When's a good time to switch from infusoria to bbs? It's frozen, not live. Thanks and wish me luck this time. |
