Feather-tail betta?

Do you guys remember Llyr?

I know, that's got the be the world's worst photo, but my camera is broken.

Anyway, I noticed the other day while I was picking up my hot flat iron that my crazy cat knocked off onto the floor that Llyr isn't as much of a delta or halfmoon as I had originally hoped, but his tail looks just like feathers! I would try a picture, but like I said......

I am having a heck of a time getting my pictures to post and show up in the forum. I have read all the info here, and I am pretty good when it comes to this kind of thing, which only adds to the frustration! I do not SEE the place where you can add links. It just does not show up on my page. I am logged in, but still nothing! I HAVE seen that input box ONE time...however I do not know what I did different then that I can not do now. I don't eat fish very often, as my significant other is not a fan, but I otherwise absolutely adore eating sushi and sashimi. I've noticed that the more my mind gets caught up on fish-related topics, the more I tend to reach for the box of fish sticks in the freezer. Does this happen to any of you or am I just slightly deranged?

I recently scored a camera tripod at Dollarama, and it suddenly dawned on me today that since I now only need one hand to hold the camera, I can use the other to aim a flashlight! Here are the results of that little experiment.

Day 1-

A hoarder here on post is being kicked out of his house. I decided to go for the free aquariums (just to see if there was anything big enough to upgrade the guppy tank and/or worthwhile). The house is trashed. It's a tragedy. Dog feces, dozens of aquariums for god only knows what poor animals' end, fish kept with turtles, goldies and plecos... it's a tragedy and it hurts to see it, even though I've seen it so many times.

Tucked away in a tiny corner...

I've been feeding my Betta a pea one day per weeek because he doesn't poo...I know this because I don't see any when I do daily water changes. I went to feed him today and noticed his belly a little bloated so I'm thinking he has to go! How much of the pea should I give him. I've only been giving him 3-4 very small pieces. Just want to make sure I'm feeding enough, but not overfeeding of course.

Hi everyone, meet Kashmir. When I first got him, just over a year ago, his ratio of webbing to rays was 50:50 - but nowadays it's more like 80:20. It's been a very gradual process with Kashmir that started out with curled tips, which then became clubbed tips. I can't even pinpoint when the clubbing first started to show up. It must have been several months ago. Here's what he used to look like (sorry for the repeats, I posted these in the gallery too).

I am soon to be in the market for a betta. I have a tank set up that is almost cycled. There is a golden mystery snail in there now. As soon as it is cycled and my recent surgery heals (its on my arm, so I can't get it wet. Bummer!) But I am looking for recommendations about where to get a betta? In my defense, I had to have him. He was in a teeny tiny little cup (the betta cups the LFS uses are about a third of the size the ones the local Wal-Mart uses), flaring his little head off at his reflection in the back mirror. He was happy and healthy and his fins were absolutely glorious. Another fish, naturally, meant another fish...

Last week I finally got a new girl betta after losing Harley and Jasmine earlier this year to mystery illnesses. She was still young and tiny, more thin than small. Do I have a problem w/ my water? I'm just starting out w/ a Betta. He's currently in a 1/2 gallon Betta kit, but will be moved to a larger tank soon. I'm trying to make his time left in this tiny bowl as comfortable as possible. I was using Poland Springs bottled spring water. I had the bottled water tested at PetSmart, but was told to use tap water w/ a conditioner. So I bought a water testing kit, changed the water, conditioned it and here are the results...

Filter or no?

I have a Betta in a 1.5 gal tank. I have always had a filter on it since that's what I was told to do if you didn't leave him in a little bowl. So now do I take the filter out? Meaning I would have to change 100% water each week? Or keep the filter in, and try to get it cycled. Which I am in the process of trying to do on a 10 gal since I never knew before the 10 gal what cycling a tank even was.
